I am wondering if my Tri Delta sisters could help me spread the word about a wonderful documentary that I produced called When you Find the One

Long retired I have been actively volunteering through WoodGreen Community Services where I am now co-chair of their Senior Advisory Council. In that position I wrote along with WoodGreen a grant proposal to the Ontario Government to fund my idea for a film to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the legalization of same-sex marriage in Ontario in 2003. We reached out to 17 people, now older adults who chose to marry after the law changed including my wife Rachelle and myself.

I found a wonderful young queer filmmaker Stella Racca who was completing her studies in film production at York University to make the film and the result is a 40-minute documentary called When You Find the One. I am so proud of it and the positive message it sends at a time when there is so much negative news in the world.

We had set a goal to get 1K views of the film on WoodGreen’s YouTube link to our film by the end of June (senior/pride month). Within the first two days of being available it hit that goal!

One month later this morning it has been viewed 30K+ and is getting views as far away as Scotland, Holland, and Italy along with Canada and the United States coast to coast.

We were interviewed by Dwight Drummond of CBC Toronto for a feature story for Pride to be aired this week. They shot it at the WoodGreen Rainbow Pride Party on Friday.

Toronto City Councilor Paula Fletcher kindly ran this on her digital newsletter for two weeks which includes the link:

WoodGreen Film When You Find the One Now Available for Free

When You Find the One follows the stories of senior 2SLGBTQIA+ couples on why they chose to marry following the law change in 2003.

The film is by Stella Racca, a young queer Canadian filmmaker based in East York, and Barb McCutcheon, Co-Chair of the WoodGreen Senior Advisory Council. The film honours the 20th anniversary of the legalization of same-sex marriage in Ontario.

We are now striving to get as many views as possible. Could you help us get the word out to family and friends to see the documentary and hopefully share it? This is strictly a non-profit initiative. We are trying to win hearts over one heart at a time.

DL,

Barb McCutcheon
