June 24th-26th celebrated Tri Delta’s 60th Biennial Convention! Allison Vandenberg attended as the Toronto Alumnae Chapter voting delegate. In addition, Carly Klassen attended as a member of the Leadership Cultivation and Selection Committee, Christine Calhoun attended as a Tri Psi president representative and Jenna Renders attended on behalf of House Corp.
Friday June 24th the Convention hosted LEADDD programming for members with a variety of keynote speakers, and the evening ended with a night at the San Diego Zoo.
Saturday June 25th members had the opportunity to network with other alumnae chapter members, participate in Ritual Celebration & Circle Degree, hear from keynote speaker, Tri Delta member and Spanx Founder, Sara Blakely, and attend additional leadership programming. In the evening during the Tri Delta Celebration awards ceremony, the Toronto Alumnae Chapter was given the Eleanor Dorcas Pond Award – this award is presented to a chapter that provides an exceptional and rewarding membership experience, while demonstrating a steadfast commitment to Tri Delta’s purpose.
Sunday June 26th had the day start early with a business meeting where all but one item passed in the vote. The item being tabled for further discussion clarifies the process by which the executive board conducts and records its votes. At the end of the business meeting, the new Executive Board was installed, including Leah Clelland Jochim, the first Canadian Director! (Leah is in the photo of Canadians below, second from the right in the back row.) Members then had a free afternoon. Allison had made friends with members from the Boston Alumnae Chapter and spent the afternoon with them at a nearby beach. The evening ended with an outdoor dinner party “Under the Crescent Moon & Stars” complete with s’mores. Next year’s Convention will be hosted in Orlando, Florida and we hope to see you there!
