This past convention (you can see pictures posted on this site) I had the opportunity to learn about an important intiative that Delta Delta Delta has unwritten. It’s called Reflections – it’s a body image program created by sorority women, for sorority women and what’s even better is that it is going beyond just that and is being share with universities.
It all starts with the following saying: “Friends don’t let friends fat talk” – it’s become one of my new mantras – I hope it will become one of yours.
Please check out the website today to learn more: http://www.bodyimageprogram.org/
It starts today. It starts with you.
I’ve long enjoyed photography as a hobby, in the last couple of years with a Nikon Coolpix S2 (a point and shoot) and a Nikon D80 SLR, both digital cameras. But this past week I’m turning it from not just a hobby, but to a business as well.
Today, I’m pleased to announce the opening of my new CafePress.com shop at CafePress.com/ShireenJ. I call my shop Points North Studio, after my Flickr name (Flickr is a photo sharing website). I’ve found CafePress very helpful whenever I’ve had to call them while trying to create products, I’m impressed that they test all their products for quality, and I’ve heard good things from people who’ve ordered from them.
I’ve created a few products to begin with: T-shirts featuring my popular morning rose or a playful dog, a journal with the CN Tower soaring up its cover, three types of calendars including one featuring Toronto, Christmas greeting cards and ornaments, and a birthday card featuring a jaunty yellow crocus. I am regularly adding to the shop as I familiarize myself with creating products. CafePress provides the ability to open up more than one shop; if, for example, people want to see more greeting cards, I’ll open up new shops to showcase new card designs.
I invite you to check it out, e-mail me your comments, spread the word, and please shop!
P.S. If you have member news, please submit it so that we can tell our Tri Delta sisters through this website. We’d love to read about it!
Please contact me if you are interested in participating in some of the behind the scenes work that goes into Founder’s Day! I am looking for any volunteers (even if you can only afford to help out a little, every little bit helps!!) for creative projects as well as some helping hands for some of the more functional tasks that are all very important in putting together this fine evening. It’s a great way to get involved without a lot of commitment, as well as a fun way to spend some time with your sisters while helping out!
In the bonds,
I am preparing a new Directory to be ready for Founders’ Day so please send me any changes of name, address, phone numbers or emails.

2008 RECRUITMENT WAS A SUCCESS!!
Our recruitment period for 2008 has officially come to an end. We are proud to say that we got 13 wonderful new sisters, who we are thrilled about!!! With the leadership of our V.P. Membership Vanessa LeBouthillier, and the recruitment workshops and planning sessions that took place over the summer- all our hard work paid off!
Going into recruitment, we had 35 collegiate members. Campus total is now 40, and any house is allowed to exceed campus total only through formal recruitment. With our 13 new members, that brings our house total to 48 women!! We also got two Tri Delta legacies through recruitment, which is very exciting- Martha Parker and Sarah Driscoll! We are currently the biggest house on campus, and this also means that we do not have to recruit for the rest of the year, nor do we have to host a spring initiation. We can now focus on other goals, such as sisterhood and philanthropy. Many of the other sororities on campus also had a successful recruitment period, with almost every house reaching quota.
We would like to thank all the Alumni that supported us along the way. None of this could have been possible without your help! Thanks again and we really hope to see you all at our future Tri Delta events!
Recent graduates, are you missing the fun of being a Collegiate member?
Please join us on October 23 @ 7PM for a social with the Collegiate chapter! Let’s welcome the New Members and introduce them to our wonderful Alumnae members! Event will be at 30 Madison Ave.

Event is FREE for dues paying Alumnae members
$5 for non-dues paying Alumnae
We can take Alumnae membership cheques at the event, should you feel so inclined. Cost is $47 for your first year, $60 subsequent years (membership also gives you a discount at Founder’s Day… coming up soon!)
