Come to the Toronto Area Alumnae Panhellenic (TAAP) Item Donation Day! TAAP will be collecting items to donate to assorted local charities in the Greater Toronto Area.

Stop by the Alpha Omicron Pi Chapter house, 24 Madison Avenue, Saturday March 27th from 1 – 3 pm, to drop off your goods, meet other TAAP members, and have refreshments!

The Beta Tau house is easily accessible from the Spadina TTC stop
TAAP will be collecting the following items:
1. New to IDD!!! – We’re collecting new and gently used books for St. Raymond Elementary school which is senior kindergarten to grade eight. Over the holidays the school experienced a flood in their library and lost a great portion of their books.
2. Clothing and accessories — Clean out your closet! TAAP will be collecting clothing to donate to Sistering, a women’s agency serving homeless, marginalized and low-income women in Toronto. Their programs and services help women gain greater control over their life circumstances. Their advocacy focuses on changing the social conditions that put women at risk. Their service philosophy is to ensure that women’s dignity is not eroded by poverty and homelessness.

-Lined paper, pens and pencils
-Laundry soap, dish soap, hand soaps
-New hygiene products – Shampoo and conditioner, lotion, deodorant, tampons, sanitary napkins, bath soap
-Gently used women’s pants, tops, skirts, coats
-Boots and shoes, especially running shoes in sizes 8-10
-Teapots, kettles, cups, coffee pots, plates, dishes, glasses, pots, napkins, cutlery
-Knitting needles, wool, craft supplies
-Sheets, pillows, blankets, towels
-Foil and cellophane kitchen wrap, plastic containers
3. Labels for Education — TAAP will also be collecting labels from affiliated Campbell’s products (including Campbell’s soup labels, Pepperidge Farm Goldfish labels, V8 labels, and Prego tomato sauce labels) to donate to a Toronto school in need of educational materials.
We look forward to seeing as many women as possible and collecting as many goods as possible to donate!

Formal recruitment is fast approaching and the chapter needs Alumnae assistance behind the scenes! They have asked for a few Alum to help during the regular rounds and will need more to assist the night of Preference for the larger food preparation. If you are available to assist, please contact the chapter at info@trideltauoft.ca. Alternatively, the chapter’s VP Membership, Alexandra Celebre, or Chapter Advisor, Samantha Potes, may be contacted (contact info in your Chapter Directory). If you are volunteering, please remember to enter the house through the back door. The dates and times of the rounds are listed below. For donations, the Chapter’s recruitment wish list will be published in the next newsletter or you may contact the VPM directly.

ROUND 1B – Thursday September 17; 4PM to 8PM

JOIN the TAAP tour of McLean House

Great design is enduring design. On May 30th, join TAAP for a guided 2-hour tour of the Junior League of Toronto Showhouse at McLean House, the Estates of Sunnybrook. You will have the rare opportunity to see timeless, inspiring room decors by Toronto’s finest designers. These rooms will leave a lasting impression! Fifteen spots only so book now!

What: Wonder at the design genius of over 50 of Toronto’s interior and exterior designers, including internationally renowned designers and television personalities Brian Gluckstein, Meredith Heron, Katherine Newman, Glen Peloso, Kimberley Seldon and Dee Dee Taylor Hannah.

When: Saturday May 30, 2009 at 10 a.m.

Where: McLean House, The Estates of Sunnybrook, 2075 Bayview Avenue, Toronto (Bayview Avenue south of Lawrence Avenue East). Parking at McLean House, or at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, a 5 minute walk from the house.

Why: Toronto’s design community has worked tirelessly and selflessly for a charitable cause. The Junior League of Toronto and their community partners, St. Alban’s Boys’ and Girls‘ Club and The Women and Babies Program at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre will benefit from the proceeds of your tour.

Clean Out Your Closet!

When:  March 28th – 1 PM to 3 PM
Where:  Alpha Gamma Delta – 506 Huron Street, Toronto
What: We will be accepting donations for Dress Your Best.

It is a registered charity that contributes to poverty relief.
The donations they need are Women’s Clothing & Accessories:

Two piece suits, blazers, blouses, tops, pants, skirts, dresses, sweater sets, spring jackets, winter coats, hats, gloves, scarves, boots, office footwear, belts, purses, dress scarves, jewelry, cosmetics, new hygiene products and hairstyling products. Please donate your clothing and accessories in large shopping bags.
