1923-2020 Passed peacefully on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at The Elliott Community, Guelph at the impressive age of 97. Cherished wife of the late Evans (d. 2003) for 57 years. Beloved mother of Scott (Haris Rougeri), Paul (1951-1957), Bonnie and Joan (Steve Dawson). Inspiring and loving grandmother to Rob, Stuart and Glenn Cameron, Luke Blackwell, Colleen and Heather Dawson, and Markos Georgiadis. Great-grandmother to Levi Cameron. Jean was born in Toronto in 1923 to John and Sadie Howes. She was the middle child of six children. She adored her three brothers, Doug, Bill and Bob, and her two sisters, Helen and Peggy (all predeceased). She was an accomplished dancer in Tap, Ballet, Highland, Scottish Country, and Ballroom, and did acrobatics. She toured the Maritimes during WWII with a dancing troupe entertaining the troops. She enlisted in the RCAF, WD in September 1943 and ended up stationed in Tofino, BC, in Flight Control. She married Evans in 1946 and they resided in Etobicoke. In 2013, Jean moved to Guelph to Guelph Lake Commons. In 2018, she moved to The Elliott Long Term Care Residence. They took wonderful and loving care of her there and her family is eternally grateful. Jean had a great enthusiasm and love of people, travelling, music, dancing, nature, especially wild birds, and colourful sunsets. She was an avid and successful gardener, and water colour painter. She would gladly go out of her way to help anyone and was interested in everyone. Jean will join her husband, Evans, in Beechwood Military Cemetery in Ottawa at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.. In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcomed by The Elliott Community, Staff Appreciation Fund. A tree will be planted in memory of A. Jean Cameron in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
