2020 marks a big year for Tri Delta in Toronto!

The new decade begins with a new slate being presented at the Toronto Alumnae Chapter’s 2020 AGM on February 3. Then in May, Canada Alpha will celebrate 90 years as a chartered chapter – and the first international chapter – of Delta Delta Delta Fraternity.

The history of Canada Alpha actually starts in 1927. That year, a group of U of T women came together to found a local sorority called Kappa Phi Alpha. Just two years later, they applied to be the first Canadian Charter of Delta Delta Delta. That request was granted, and the process of installation began. On May 24, 1930 at the Royal York Hotel, 28 women were initiated into the inaugural class of Canada Alpha.

If you would like to learn more about the collegiate chapter history, Christine Kralik has written a blog post on our website, available here:

May 24, 2020 is the 90th anniversary of that initiation ceremony, and we hope that you will join us for one or more of the events celebrating the first Canadian chapter of Delta Delta Delta.

One such celebration is an anniversary luncheon on May 2, 2020 at Joey’s Eaton Centre, from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. Tickets are $45 and available in the Dues and Donations section of this website. Circle Degree, the Silver and Golden Circle Ceremonies, as well as celebrations of other membership milestones, will be held for those who wish to participate. Please contact Judith McCutcheon at mccutcheonjudith2@gmail.com if you are, or know of a sister, celebrating one of the milestones of membership.

We encourage you to forward this invitation to any sisters at large with whom you would like to share Canada Alpha’s 90th. Space is limited, so early ticket purchase is strongly recommended.
